Seals and Trails in Marin

Seals and Trails in Marin

Marine life in Marin? You bet. This weekend grab your mountain bike and head over to the Marine Mammal Center which has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing pinnipeds since the mid 1970’s. The recently updated hospital is filled with photo’s and stories of sea life saved coupled with an observation deck, giant statue, and friendly staff members who’ll answer any and all questions.  Donations accepted and needed.

Now that your hearts warmed up hop back in the saddle and enjoy a bit of the Coastal Trail (yes it is, look it up) to the top of Hill 88. The trail starts on Rodeo Beach and follows an old military road that has seen many better days but keeps the ride interesting as you ascend about 880 feet through an abandoned military base  (great history lesson) to fantastic views of surrounding peaks, the bay, and downtown San Francisco. There are several trails back down and if you don’t have a bike? No worries as hikers and Sneakers will work just fine.
